For Robert Smith’s Meltdown, Southbank Centre Shop have worked in collaboration with Andy Vella to develop two exclusive limited-edition prints.
Andy is an award-winning professional designer, photographer and artist. His photographs caught the eye of The Cure’s frontman Robert Smith in 1981, initiating a relationship between the designer and the band that continues today.
These limited-edition silkscreen prints take inspiration from their first collaboration together, on The Cure’s album Faith in 1981. Presented in a complimentary Meltdown portfolio, each print includes a corresponding certificate of authenticity, numbered and embossed with Southbank Centre’s logo, together with a special note from Andy about the unique design of the print.
As well as The Cure, Andy has created artwork for St. Vincent, Mogwai, Gene, Pavement, Warm Jets, The God Machine and Jeff Buckley.
The print is available in both a positive and negative monochromatic palette, limited to an edition of 100 for each print and signed by the artist. This is a must-have item for every Meltdown collector and all fans of The Cure.
