Hayward 50th Anniversary Print
The limited edition print by artist Marysia Lewandowska celebrates a seminal moment in the Hayward Gallery’s history, the moment of its naming after Sir Isaac Hayward, Leader of the London County Council (1947 – 1965). The artwork summons the spirit of generosity displayed by the founding figures of the gallery. In the current climate of relentless privatisation and monetisation of public assets, this example of public responsibility serves as an inspiration for contesting ideas related to the ownership of culture.
