The Maharishi Yoghurt by Mick Peter

The Maharishi Yoghurt by Mick Peter

Based loosely on a character played by the boxer and comedian Rocky Graziano, Mick Peter’s 2011 silkscreen The Maharishi Yoghurt plays against both the guru’s self-seriousness and the comic’s cultural ignorance. The picture, divided horizontally into two frames, offers both a view of nirvana-like transcendence and a cartoonish, bohemian consumption of the self in a literal, if comical, fashion.

Six color silkscreen prints on Arches 88 (300gsm).

Signed and numbered by the artist.
