Southbank II Print

Southbank II Print

In his latest work Catherall has endeavoured to encompass all aspects of Southbank Centre but with a concentration on the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Hayward Gallery.

"With this print I was aiming to reflect the mix of chaos and balance within the brutalist Southbank buildings in a montage design that expresses both the energy and monumental stillness of the site."

- Paul Catherall, 2013

We are big fans of Paul Catherall here at the Southbank Centre, having commisioned him to create several prints inspired by the architecture of the site over the past 2 years.

Catherall is a London based printmaker and illustrator who is renowned for his sharp linocuts of architectural landmarks. He is influenced by classic mid 20th century poster designers and combines his eye for colour and composition to create striking and iconic images.
