History Is Now: 7 Artists Take On Britain explores 70 years of cultural and social history. John Akomfrah, Simon Fujiwara, Roger Hiorns, Hannah Starkey, Richard Wentworth and Jane and Louise Wilson each curate distinct sections of the exhibition and provide their unique ‘take’ on recent British history.
Topics explored in the exhibition include Cold War, post-Thatcherite society, feminism, protest movements, ‘mad cow disease’ and celebrity culture through a diverse set of artworks and objects. Southbank Centre Shops' range to accompany the exhibition includes books which the discuss the artists and themes involved plus unique looks at Britain and London, items inspired by Hannah Starkey's photographic section of the exhibition plus jewellery, homeware and items for children relating to Britain's history.

History Is Now: 7 Artists Take On Britain Catalogue by Hayward Publishing
A large-format publication published in conjunction with the History Is Now exhibition at Hayward Gallery, featuring full-colour illustrations, alongside illuminating essays, personal reflections and poetry by renowned writers Sheila Dillon, Adrian Forty, Daniel Fujiwara, Charlotte Higgins, Jackie Kay, David Alan Mellor and exhibition curator Cliff Lauson.
